General Practice Questions

  • Our goal at CCH is to provide an approach to healing and mental health that integrates traditional psychotherapy with alternative interventions such as yoga, acupuncture, and other forms of therapeutic touch, as well as proper nutrition and supplementation. We believe that we can be more effective at improving mood, changing behaviors, promoting recovery from physical and emotional injuries, and improving overall health if we take a collaborative approach that considers the whole person and their environment. Please contact us for a free consultation regarding how our approach can work for you.

Insurance/Payment Questions

  • Our psychotherapy services can be billed to insurance or billed directly to the client. CCH is an in-network provider for Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CIGNA Behavioral Health, Health Partners, Hennepin Health, Medica, Medical Assistance/Medicaid, OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions (formerly United Behavioral Health), PreferredOne, and UCare.

We are not in network with Medicare and will be unable to bill them for services regardless of whether they are your primary or secondary insurance.

If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits with your insurance plan, we will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance provider. Please contact your insurance company prior to your first session to ensure you are covered for mental health services and to understand your deductible/co-pay responsibilities. Psychological assessments and wellness services are primarily provided on a fee-for-service basis. However, some services might be covered under your insurance. Please contact us to inquire further.

  • CCH accepts credit cards (VISA, Mastercard), HSA cards, cash, and checks.

  • How much you will be responsible for after the claims are sent to insurance depends on your specific plan. We strongly suggest that you call your insurance company, who can let you know what to expect your out-of-pocket cost to be, if any. You can provide them with the following insurance codes to get specific information:

    Initial intake session: 90791

    45-minutes therapy session: $150

Please contact us to inquire further about pricing for other services provided at CCH.

  • We understand that schedules change. If you need to miss or change an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled time and we will be happy to help reschedule you. If an appointment is canceled with less than 24-hour’s notice, however, you will be charged half of the full fee for your session.

Therapy Questions

  • • Have you been through a traumatic event that has left you struggling to cope with everyday life?

    • Do you want to gain a better understanding of why you might think, feel, or behave the way you do?

    • Do you recognize that you have a specific problem or need help in a specific area in your life?

    • Are you facing difficulties and want help finding better ways to deal with those struggles?

    • Have you tried other traditional forms of treatment without success?

If you want to feel better, improve your quality of life, get help regarding a problem, or improve relationships with others, you might be ready for therapy.

  • In your first session, your therapist will ask you some questions to gather background information, better understand what is going on in your life right now, and what your goals are for counseling. It’s a lot like meeting anyone else for the first time! At the end of the session, you and your therapist will work together to develop a treatment plan that will include a discussion on the different ways we may accomplish your goals. In subsequent sessions, the focus will often be determined by what feels important for you to talk about or work on at that time, making sure that you are making progress towards your goals. Therapy can be difficult, and it may seem that things get worse before they get better; however, if you stick with the process you should begin to see improvement and notice positive changes in your life. You and your therapist can always redefine your goals and the priorities for your therapy.

  • Most people usually know within a session or two if the provider is a good fit. Therapists want their clients to feel comfortable and connected, so if you don’t, we will not be offended if you contact us to connect you with a new provider.

  • Yes! Everyone is welcome. We offer a wide array of services for children, adolescents, and adults. Our staff works with concerns such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, identity/self-esteem, relational issues, grief and loss issues, life transitions, LGBT issues, and chemical dependency (please visit our Services Page for more information on what we do).

Other Common Questions

  • At CCH we think acupuncture is part of the alchemical formula to living comfortably in ourselves and in our lives. Discomfort is more than a crick in your neck or a sore knee, it is a message from your body that it wants your attention. At CCH our practitioner listens to the nonverbal cues your body is giving to get to the root of your discomfort whether that is physical or emotional, because in Chinese Medicine, they come hand in hand. Through the use of acupuncture needles, flower essences, and ancient spirit points your body, mind and soul begin to weave together and subtle shifts in body sense and overall health begin to take shape.

  • Physical therapy at CCH is different from traditional PT in so many ways! Start with a beautiful, calm environment in which your story can really be heard and interpreted. In other settings, PT's may be pressed for time in busy, chaotic clinics where they can only focus on the referred diagnosis. At CCH, your PT sessions are about finding the root cause and ways to help you manage your symptoms while on your healing journey. PT will dig into more than just how your body moves. Discovering your sleep, nutrition and mental health habits can all play a role in your healing. Treatment is not limited to assigning you exercises but rather manual, hands-on work that helps lessen your pain and improve your ability to strengthen the whole body. Finally, PT at CCH provides a built-in accountability coach. Once you establish a relationship with our PT, you will gain access to your home programs along with helpful tools to help keep you consistent with your progress.

  • Yoga provided at CCH is based on the evidenced based program called Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). During a yoga session at CCH, our clinicians will provide you with options for physical movements and invite you to make choices about how you wish to move (or not move). You are encouraged to notice sensations in your body and modify your movements accordingly. Thus, the emphasis is not on doing the movement “correctly” but instead on becoming more aware of how you feel internally and regaining a sense of agency over your body. Sessions are taught by a licensed mental health or medical provider with extensive experience in teaching yoga and the treatment of trauma.

  • While Pilates is always about creating a balance of strength and flexibility, at CCH we recognize that strength and flexibility translate outside the body as resilience and adaptability. Pilates is a great tool to build awareness of the vessel we live in, while inviting our spirit to fully embody it. It's a great way to break up physical and mental stagnation, expand our preconceived ideas of what we can do, build confidence, and make you feel alive.
