Nutrition Counseling

Balance your plate, Balance your mind

What is Nutrition Counseling?

Nutrition counseling involves meeting with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who will provide individualized nutrition recommendations with the goal of improving your physical and/or mental health.

Dietitians are licensed and credentialed nutrition experts who provide evidenced-based recommendations and education around your daily nutritional needs. During counseling sessions, dietitians help guide their clients towards sustainable, life-long changes, rather than employing gimmicks or fad diets which research has shown do not support lasting improvements in health or well-being. This is a safe space for people of all sizes, backgrounds, genders, and differences.

Nutrition for Mental Health Explained

Research shows an association between dietary intake and nutrition status in the development of psychiatric disorders such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Nutrient deficiencies and imbalances affect the way we think and feel and in addition, nutrient depletion can imitate mood disorders. With balanced nutrition, the brain can adequately communicate with the rest of the body, including the gut, which greatly affects our mood and behaviors.
