Kristen Chuba, MSPAS, PA-C
"It takes multiple different tools to build a strong house; your mind and body are no different."
EDUCATION
Kristen received her bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2010, followed by her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Des Moines University in 2014.
EXPERIENCE
Kristen has over 9 years of experience as a Physician Assistant. Her past clinical practices were in specialties of family medicine and urgent care. Currently Kristen works only in psychiatry as a psychiatric Physician Assistant who prescribes and manages mental health medications for adults.
APPROACH
Kristen’s optimal treatment philosophy is education about diagnosis, behavioral modification, and medication management to help alleviate symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood, and trauma, among others. Kristen believes that building a strong therapeutic alliance and empowering patients to be partners in their care is an essential foundation to treatment. She also stresses to her patients the benefits of eating healthy whole foods, time spent outdoors, and the importance of movement and sleep in optimizing their mental and physical well-being. She believes medication should be prescribed at the lowest effective dose while utilizing the fewest number of medications, and medication changes should be done slowly to minimize drug to drug interactions and potential side effects.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE
Kristen is an independent contractor at CCH. Kristen sees adults 18 years and older for medication management. She works in a virtual setting only at this time.
