EDUCATION
Laura is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who completed her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Minnesota and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Missouri.
Laura has spent much of her career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, completing her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Connecticut.
EXPERIENCE
Laura has over 20 years of experience providing mental health care for individuals across the lifespan. Her practice has focused on supporting clients in a variety of clinical settings and with a wide range of diagnoses. She has worked with youth who are in crisis, struggling with school difficulties, and who are in the juvenile justice system. She has worked extensively with adults and families who are struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, and a history of trauma. She is passionate about working with parents of children with special healthcare needs and medical complexity.
APPROACH
Laura believes that the relationship between a provider and client is a collaborative partnership based on mutual trust and respect. She works with clients to find the best way forward to focus on symptom relief, as well as identifying the root cause of symptoms. She believes in a holistic approach to care, which can include Western medication, as well as modifications in nutrition and sleep, and holistic treatment recommendations. Laura is committed to working with clients to find solutions that improve their quality of life and help them achieve their goals.
SCOPE OF PRACTICE
Laura is an independent contractor at CCH. She sees individuals from 5 through adulthood for medication management and holistic psychiatric care.
