EDUCATION
Dr. Nicole Slavik obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the College of St. Benedict. She then received her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology.
EXPERIENCE
Nicole has extensive experience working with complex trauma and chemical dependency. She has a special interest in treating women survivors of trauma who have learned to cope by abusing drugs and alcohol, and is able to complete chemical use assessments.
CERTIFICATIONS
Nicole is a licensed clinical psychologist. Nicole also has specialized training in how trauma affects the brain. Specifically, she understands how repeated trauma (including drug and alcohol use) can affect the brain from functioning in a healthy way.
MENTAL HEALTH APPROACH
Nicole believes that fostering the therapist-client relationship is of utmost importance for healing and change to occur. Her therapy practice focuses on joining her clients on their journey as they process unhealthy behaviors and thinking patterns and begin to find self-acceptance.
Nicole believes that it is her job to help identify the unique strengths and talents that will help a client gain the skills necessary to overcome past, present, and future problems. She strives to be a safe and supportive resource for her clients as they work toward change.
CURRENT PRACTICE
Her clinical practice focuses on individual therapy for adolescents and adults as well as providing psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.
Nicole is currently not taking any new therapy clients but is open for assessment cases.
